When Catherine Deutsch started her career at Gillette in 1988, she knew she wanted to work in health care but didn’t see herself in a clinical role. That’s when she obtained her Health Unit Coordinator Certification. Since then, she’s worked in a variety of positions at Gillette including supporting the medical surgical unit, imaging, and new patient intake – and has especially enjoyed roles that allow her to work directly with patients and families. As a Referral Management Coordinator, Catherine continues to lend a supportive and empathetic ear to families seeking Gillette’s care. In addition to the fulfilling work, she credits a good work-life balance and flexibility while she raised her two children as reasons she’s stayed with Gillette for the past 35 years.
“What I really enjoy most about my work is being able to advocate for families and to help them feel heard. Navigating health care systems can be challenging. I want to give people the comfort of knowing that there’s someone working on their behalf to help them get the care they need.”
