Wallace Cole, MD, was not just a renowned surgeon; he was a teacher, traveler, veteran, author and leader. After studying at Boston Children's Hospital, Cole traveled to England where he worked in orthopedics for several months. When he returned home to St. Paul, he immediately resumed practice and enrolled in the Minnesota National Guard. A few years later, he moved back to Britain after being selected to serve as a surgeon in the war. Throughout his career, he was driven toward advancement. Cole was constantly trying to learn and better his practice to help others. He lead with kindness and put his patients first.
“When I first met him, I was just awestruck,” said Sharon Johnson, regarding Dr. Cole in 1993.
