Heath Marvel has always loved music, psychology, and working with kids. When he shadowed a music therapist, he knew the career would be a great fit. Years later, when that same music therapist who now worked for Gillette went on maternity leave, Heath was hired to cover for her! Ever since, Heath has continued to cherish the job and the experiences he’s gained. Witnessing the uplifting result music can have on patients’ is one thing Heath will never tire of or take for granted.
When asked to share a success story that resonated with him, Heath replied, “We recently had a patient on our rehab unit who had not spoken for several weeks. Physicians were not even sure if he would be able to talk after his injury. He spoke for the first time when he completed the lyrics in my goodbye song: 'Bop shoo-bop, shoo-bop, shoo….BOP.'”
